Was just wondering, how come you cant get a 6.2L in a regular cab truck? Why do I gotta pay 18,000 more if I want that motor? Any specific reasoning behind this other than ford wanting you to spend a boat load more cash to get the motor? Looks like its only available in the raptor, lariat, and harley edition, all of which arn't available in a regular cab.
Exactly... and it will get worse, not better. Why do you think Ford is pushing the Ecoboost so hard in the F150, along with making fairly significant strides in the smaller vehicle?
Frankly, I think the 6.2 is overkill in the F150, considering the performance of the Ecoboost. If you need that much motor, go to a Super Duty where you can get it in a base trim.
Sad but true...C.A.F.E regulation dictate's what engine go's in what truck. The Superduty doesn't have to adhere to as strict of standards as the F-150, so the 6.2L in the F-250+ isn't really a big deal.
The 6.2L is a great engine, but in truth is overkill for the F-150, the 5.0L and Ecoboost are more than strong enough for any duty anyone should ask of the F-150. Though I admit it is sad...I went with the 5.0L in my FX4...But had the 6.2L been offered as a choice, I don't know if I could have resisted...Its hard not to love a big inch V8.
But I don't regret the 5.0L by any means...It was for sure the more practical choice, and still makes 360hp which more than enough for the F-150. And more than enough to give me a big dopey grin when I press on the throttle.
Best of all, I didn't have to give up that wonderful V8 sound!
But yeah, if you just can't live without the 6.2L, you might check in on an F-250, they can generally be had for around the same price as an F-150, and the 6.2L is much more available in them.
