I purchased a new Sansa Clip Zip Mp3 player recently to replace a "filled" Sansa Clip player. The new player is 4gb capacity and the older is 2gb.
The radio in my truck synced the older player with no problems through the USB port. But when I connect the new player and go through the steps to sync the USB, the nice lady tells me that it's not connected and says sync with line in. But when I remove the player, the display shows it removed. It also shows no media files.
Connecting each player to my pc shows the same file structure on each player and all the media files.
This has me baffled. Will Sync recognize any USB device if it's compatible?
Really don't know the difference between the two players other than the new one has more capacity and a new color screen.
Strongly suggest you invest in a USB flash drive (I have a 32GB connected to USB2 and stored in the glove box of my 09). The flash drive can stay in the truck and (provided it's formatted FAT32) will work flawlessly.

I really need to do this...along with the USB2 mod. Someday...
There's a mod for center console too - it requires the same cable hardware, just more disassembly to route the cable to the console.
For me it wasn't worth buying a panel removal tool or risking breaking a dash piece (or developing a rattle) to accomplish the same goal - store the USB flash drive in a safe, out-of-the-way place.
