Hey guys I am going to order a 2012 F-350 6.7 this weekend but I don't see anything about a trailer hitch on the Ford build site I do see on some window stickers at the Ford lot that says 12k Hitch $0 cost is that standard or is there special order?
can you order a different class type hitch or is that just a standard hitch that comes with the truck thanks?
I custom ordered my 2012 in August and got it in October. There was not any option that I could make in order to change the standard hitch that is on the truck. The only thing that is hitch related that you can add would be for in-bed options.
The hitch is also a 2.5" receiver, NOT a 2". I noticed the hitches on the 6.2 gas SD's are 2" though, I would assume the option is there to get a 2.5" though. All diesels come with the 2.5" and should come with an adapter for a 2" drawbar. Mine had the adapter in the receiver with a hitch pin. Which reminds me... thats the only hitch pin I have that works in my F350 and I delegated that to the work truck since its a 2.5" also... I will have to see if I can come up with a locking pin, I know it has been discussed here so I'll do a search.
My hitch shows 17,500lbs WD just FYI, it will handle more than 12k.
I think the one for the 2-1/2" on my 08 is a Valley 75710 locking hitch pin I bought locally at Atwood Ranch Store. Valley Towing Systems - Receiver Locks
Just an FYI for everyone. 2011 and on F350 diesels come standard with a class v hitch. And since feb 2011 production date, they are to include the reducer sleeve and hitch pin as these parts are size specific to ford. Reese adapters working are like hitting the lottery. ( due to the fact that the radius is different on the corners)

You should be correct, but parts availability in the first few months of production meant that some diesel trucks were built with the 2" hitch. Mine was one of them!
Good points. Also consider most auto stores don't carry a 2.5 inch receiver. I needed to pull a wagon last week and needed a receiver hitch. No one had one near me. That included Wally world, napa, auto zone, tractor supply etc.
It will likely be a special order if you need one.

Mine too. Never had a 2.5" receiver before, still don't.
