bad injector
To me, the easiest way is use an AE hands down. Some have used one of those infrared thermometers to pick off the cooler exhaust port (not experience with that method). If it's missing, you can try to unplug the injectors one at a time until you discover the offending one. There should be no change in the sound of the idle when you unplug it. If you have more than one unplugged at a time, the truck will more than likely die. For the sake of discussion, what leads to you to believe you've got a bum injector?

You just might have a loose connector, especially if you or someone else has recently worked on the motor. I would check to make sure all are tight before going any further. The connectors require a little a** to get them to fully seat.
