I join the Forum to see if I can find some old springs for my truck in the classified section......only to find out I have to have 25 posts before I can post up in the "wanted to buy " section.....
so here's post #1 .....
Yup..... A newb...
Actually, I'm a dyed in the wool chevy person ( I've been a member of CK5 for 7 years ) that is trapped in a 1979 Ford F-250 4x4 that I am rebuilding ... ( I always have liked the old F-250's)
Anyway.... since I can't post in the classified section yet....
anyone have some old front leaf springs from a 79 F-250 4x4 laying arround they want to sell ?
find a set of stock super duty gas engine leaf springs. they are only like an inch longer than the 77.5-79'' truck's front springs and easier to find in a junkyard. might give you 2 or so inches of lift, easy to match the rear with an add a leaf.
they use metric bolts though, so you may have to drill out the holes in the spring mounts.
first: what dan said.
second: welcome to FTE
and third: please don't post pad to get your post count up to use the classifieds. it is not a good thing, and administration will smack your my happy if they catch you doing it.
please don't post pad to get your post count up to use the classifieds
Man,,,, you Ford guys are a tough crowd.....
It is not my intention to pad post my count to use the classified section.....I thought I'd hang around a while and learn a little about Fords...
as I posted earlier....I have over 7 years at CK5....I know what a padfest looks like...
and BTW.....wouldn't be the first time I have been smacked by a Mod....
anyway.... thanks for the reply fatdan !.....
.are you talking about front springs off a 4x4 ?
or a set of rear springs, like we do with the chevy's ?
I'm good with a two inch lift,,,I don't think I will be doing any serious off-roading with it...
i was talking about the front leafs on a 99-04 super duty 4x4, but seeing as i sold my 4'' s/d springs to kris (alpha) to replace his 78's, he probably has a stock set and a 4'' lift set of 77.5-79 front lift springs for sale. mind telling us where you live? it makes sheot way simpler to figure out.
EDIT: south eastern coastal texas, shipping is hell. can't think of any regulars that are very close to you, sorry. stick around though, you never know what will pop up
77xxx zip code sounds like Houston region to me. There's got to be a ton of salvage yards out there. If you ever make your way west, there's John's Auto Salvage just outside of Seguin. He's got 40 or so 1970's Ford trucks out there, bound to have a set of springs. He's got mounds of axles/springs/etc. Mostly Ford stuff out there too.
I looked at John's website and sent them an e-mail......maybe worth dragging the trailer over there and see what else he has....
Houston area salvage yards are picked over and most of the older truck stuff has been crushed....all of the salvage yards are newer model high turn over stuff...
there are one or two places that are dedicated to 4x4's....but they think every part they sell is made of gold.....
