Good Luck with it
I think it's actually easier, except for the tightness in there to work, since the vans already have lines exiting the housing for the remote filter so I can tie into them easier, just trying to deal with the coolant issue, have a few roads I can take, don't know which one yet.

Pic of my housing ready to be installed, plugs welded in, you F series guys can just buy the Econoline top you see on mine which bolts on in place of the oil filter housing and you can either tap it for 3/4" female and use a 3/4" female to -12AN male and go from there with -12AN lines or buy the factory Econoline remote filter hard lines to get you down below the truck to the filter.

Pics showing the plugs welded from top side. As you can see in my other pic, I installed a freeze out plug in the block at coolant feed, welded the housing base right above that plug and the path of flow goes to the welded plug on top, so in effect, a triple seal the housing will never see coolant again, and I doubt there will be any boiling in place where I installed the freeze plug in block, the factory installs multiple freeze out plugs in the block, so I don't see an issue.

And to any of you F series guys that cry abt. working on your trucks, look at this nightmare, yes turbo, pipes, HPOP are a breeze, but look at the rest of it , it was real fun removing the intake and tommorrow night I have to remove my valve covers to install the stand pipes and dummy plugs that showed upp in the mail today, I looked at it tonight to devise a plan of attack and walked away thinking I'd rather eat road kill!

My EGR delete capped off and freeze plug in coolant return. I made the cap for EGR with a scrap piece of 1/8" steel and bolts I had around the shop . Not as fancy as the anodized ones they sell with kits but who see's it.

My freeze plugs in the coolant feed in block and the coolant return in the front housing. If anyone is wanting to do this, I can post the Dorman part numbers for the 3 freeze plugs I used in my project, which will save someone a lot of hassle.

You know, you just reminded me of a call I received from one of our parts customers a couple years ago. He asked me how much he should charge to re & re an engine front cover on an E-Series. My answer to him was "any competent tech SHOULD be able to do the job in three hours".

subscribing to see the final outcome. I like that you're keeping the OEM stuff and capping the flow. Especially like the fact that your Econoline filter housing fits the SD one

what is your total price to date?

I'm abt. 500 bucks, e-bay Setrab cooler, gotta shop for those as they're pricey, but good deals come along, mine was actually old stock from a company going out of business dusty as hell but brand new and $150, new they are like 400, so it pays to surf ebay. Baldwin filter and housing from Grainger, Thermostat ebay, fitting and lines Jegs, though I had some fitting left over from my GTO project.
