Hey guys kinda new at this i have a 97 ford explorer sport with new tierods balljonts control arms sway bar end links and bushings n im having an issue with the steering its been in for alignment too n it pulls side to side i do have two different thread tires but i cant understand whats wrong can someone give me some clues??
That's quite difficult to read with no punctuation and partial words. I think I figured out where one sentence should end and the next begin, as well as what you are trying to ask.
The first thing to check is that all tires are properly inflated. And I don't mean inflated to what's on the tire sidewall, but what Ford wants according to the sticker in the driver's door jamb.
Does the truck only pull on certain roads, in certain lanes on the road, only after hitting potholes, or only when applying the brakes? You mention "pulls side to side" which would suggest the pull is not always in the same direction (pulls to the right, for example). Is that what you meant?
If the pull seems to always be in one direction, the next thing to try would be to move tires around, either front to rear or left to right and see if the pull changes. If it does, then you may have a tire with a separated belt or other defect.
Thanks . Ill give that a try. sorry about writing i was in a rush and tired. its mostly on the highway and sometimes it pull right and sometimes left. its not when i brake either only when im doing 50 or higher.
Road camber is probably the same as the "crown" of the road. Roads in town usually have a crown to them to aid in water shed. If they were perfectly flat water would tend to sit on top of the road, but the crown causes the water to flow to the gutters. This same crown can cause a vehicle to feel like it pulls. Since you mention you notice the pull most at speeds above 50, I'm suspecting that's on highways and therefore the crown should be minimal.
Having 4 different tires could certainly contribute to the wandering, especially if they are all inflated differently and/or different sizes. As Aquanaut mentioned, with the short wheelbase, differences due to inflation, size, and tread patters will be pretty noticeable.
