68 Door Locks

Alright so I had my truck painted a couple years ago by a crook (he stole trim and everything else I asked to be returned and his painting sucked!!!) that took apart my doors for some reason. when he put them back together he apparently didnt put something back and now my doors wont lock. I havent wooried about it because I live in the sticks where crime didnt used to be an issue, but of course, now it is growing. I was wondering exactly what could be wrong with it. it will lock when it is opened and functionc correctly, but when you close the door it unlocks. and you cant lock it with the key or with the windows down while the door is closed...any ideas?

The R/L rods that the lock ***** thread onto are held in place to the door latch with clips. The door remote control rods (inside handle to latch) also use these same clips.

So...the only way to find out what the problemo is...is to remove the door panel and take a look-see.

The clips can be found in the HELP section at autoparts stores...but you will need a sample, cuz there's a gazillion different types.
