Turbo Gasket
Is there a gasket between the turbo and the outlet elbow with the wastegate in it?
It looks like it was just carbon but I can't tell for sure.
Factory '94 Turbo IDI.

Why don't they use a gasket? My banks kit calls for gaskets (long missing) on either side of the heat sheild.

There is no gasket at the wastegate, its probably just carbon buildup....although why would you have carbon buildup on your wastegate???

Black diesel exhaust. Soot is probably more correct.
I'm going to use some copper gasket spray on it anyway when I reassemble it.
I wish ATS still made the 3" elbow/outlet and down pipe.

It seems like I read sometime in the last few days, that typefour does some kind of upgrade on them. It might be worth your while to check with him.

I can make your stock one into a 3" outlet and you can use a banks DP or custom 3" DP with it.
I have done several, for myself and a few members. At a much cheaper price than ATS was getting for them too, with a better sealing method as well.
Just food for thought.
