I will be doing this soon but will be using an auto eject so the wife doesn't drive off with the cord.
Mounting with the ground up is very common in the industrial setting and is getting more common in residential (depending on code). The reason behind it is if something falls on the plug and slightly knocks it out of the outlet it will land on the ground and won’t hurt anything.
