Got a new meter

A co-worker gave me a box of stuff today, and in there was an old Simpson 260 series 2. Late 40s/early50s, in excellent shape. The batteries look to be from the late 80s to early 90s, but they didn't leak and it's pristine inside.
I found a manual online at simpson260.com, it's a pretty big PDF download so it should provide some decent reading.
I know these meters have been specifically mentioned on here, any tips on them? I know this series does not have a fuse and is only rated at 500mA so no current testing really, but looks to be pretty stout otherwise.

Congratulations Jared!

I have a series 6 with the mirrored scale and the little circuit breaker button on the front.
These meters have been the standard of industry -all over the world- for a long time.
Really, there is no equal.

Mine has unusual leads, not a normal Banana Jack style.
Though they are rugged try not to drop them hard.
It doesn't do the meter good.

If I had to have only one I would give up my digital meters and keep the 260 in a heartbeat.
There's a lot of good information and history on simpson260.com.
And a reason for those fans to be so supportive of the product.
