Guys, My son left the ignition key to the on(run) position all night when he was testing his gauges. In the morning after charging a dead battery it wouldnt start. I pulled a plug and checked for spark and there wasnt any, but I have it from the coil. What would be the most likely culprit? Would the pickup coil in the dizzy get hot and burn open? 1985 351 HO F150
It might just be an old wives' tale, but I've heard a time or two that leaving the key on like that without the engine running can burn up the coil. Don't know for certain though.
Sounds like the coil is firing if I read this right
Good eye, I didn't catch that earlier.
Check the wiring that runs from the DS2 box to the distributor. On my truck, I had a wire in this same harness break away from a connector awhile back and it caused a no-spark condition. It was an orange wire. Once I found it was broken and I fixed it, I had spark again and all was well.
