Resurrect.....

So if you don't have the plug already and it's not on sticker,.".but did order the supplemental CAB heating package...would the heating element already be there? So alli would need is the cord?

Shane -- looks like the 6.7 is different and does require the element and the cord. PowerStrokeHD provided the information below in this thread:

A couple of options for those wanting to install the block heater...

OEM option...

Element - Ford P/N: BC3Z-6A051-A (MSRP $30.43)
Cord - Ford P/N: BC3Z-6B018-C (MSRP $135.77)

You can pick-up the element and cord online from places like Tousley or Tasca for around $110 plus shipping.

Another option at half the price or less is a ZeroStart (Phillips & Temro) block heater kit. The only difference here is the cord is a generic one, so you will have to route and secure it as you choose. It does not have the wire loom and hangers like the Ford OEM cord. Ford sources the OEM heaters from P & T.

The ZeroStart P/N is 3500069 and you should be able to pick up the kit for $60 or less.

I will re-read the thread to see if the Supplemental Cab Heater options gives you the element, but I don't believe so.

I went to my Ford dealer last week and checked on the heater element. I was told (by a manager) that all the new engines built by Ford do come with the heater already installed. Ford provides the cable to those colder states mentioned. I inquired about the cable and was told it would be $144.00. After a few words they gave it to me at no charge and offered to but it on but I didn't have time. I thought I could install it myself but with the off-road package I can't find where the heater is installed. Anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Just shows how little the dealers know about our trucks
The heater doesn't come with the 6.7 like it did with the older trucks.
At least you got a free cord and only need to order the element now.

The 6.7L (at least for model year 2011) would only install the heater in engines that were built for states that need the heater (I forget which states).

If you order a truck for AL for example, no heater unless specified.
This is where the heater is supposed to be:

Well, you guys have proved it again. This site knows more about our trucks than the dealer. I went back to my dealer to have them install my cable because they told me the heater came with the truck. I couldn't find a place to connect the cable so I took it to them. They ordered me a heater at thier expense since they told me it came with it. Thanks guys.

Since your dealer has shown such great knowledge of the 6.7L engine. Just watch him to make sure what coolant they use to top off your coolant after they install the heating element. They will loose coolant when they pull the plug. They will have to top off the coolant tank. Make sure they put the right coolant back in. The 6.7L does not use the same coolant as any of the previous Powerstroke engines.

Good advice PH.

That's the nice thing about this forum, someone's always got your back.

Merry Christmas.

Yeah, there are still dealers thinking 15 quarts (wrong) and VC8 (wrong).

Just did this install myself... and I do think it's important to mention that when that "freeze plug" pops out, that Orange coolant GUSHES out. Have a CLEAN bucket ready underneath to catch whatever you can during the Indiana-Jones-Monkey-Sandbag swap. All-in-All, I lost about a half-gallon of it. So, having it on standby is a must.

But, again, KUDOS for the write-up previously. I helped a ton with me being a bit prepared for this DIY.

I bought my truck a week ago and the sticker it has a block heater installed with the price on the side that I forgot, checked the front left side of the lower grill opening and there is a capped cable there. So should the plug be included or do they sell it separately?

I did not take the cap off but isn't there a 2nd cord you plug into that then into a 3 prong socket? That's the part I could not find inside the truck or bumper. I guess they didn't give it to me. It should be included if the option is on my window sticker right?

An extension cord should be all you need
If you look in the passenger side wheel well at the engine block you should see the heater installed then there should be a cord running to the front grill

What state do you live in?
