I read somewhere here the person suggested using a thinner washer with the bolt to press the damper back in, DON"T do this you will get it stuck in there and have to pull it off again, I know I did it. Went and bought a longer bolt. And I used a smaller piece of the same strap material to anchor the t/c to the trans. housing to hold the crank in position to torq the damper pulley on.
Great tips, Bill. That metal strap material is definitely "multi-purpose". My biggest headache , in torquing the damper bolt, was having to remove my fuel filter, that I mounted to the bellhousing, to get the TC cover off to access the flexplate. You have to unscrew the filter to get one of the bolts out. And, the top cover bolt behind the starter can be a booger also.
