Poor fuel mileage, I mean very poor

I just purchased a new to me 2016 F-350. The truck is in great shape as best I can tell. It is also stock as best as I can tell. I am just wondering what is making the MPG so low. I am getting 9 to 10 mpg. It is a 6.2L gasser I am not expecting above 20 mpg, but above 15 would be great.
Heard people talk about getting up to 14 but I found it is the exception

6.2 is not a motor you buy if high fuel mileage is a goal. Good pulling motor but won't pass many gas stations.
