i've had this truck for two months now, have done countless scans, and i've probably dropped around $1000 into it and it's STILL giving me crap. had to change the relays and fuel pump to get it running, i fixed all the trouble codes that the scanner pulled up (TPS, EGR, high idle, o2 sensor), fixed my trans leak, did a complete tune-up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, oil change, transmission fluid change, air filter, fuel filter) pulled the harness, cleaned all the connectors, put dielectric grease on every terminal, put everything back together and it ran PERFECT... for ~20 minutes. it cooked the main power wire for both fuel pumps and died at the foot of my driveway. fixed the wire, got the truck running, now it's running SUPER RICH and it's losing fuel pressure. if you leave the key off for more than a couple minutes, good luck starting it again. me and my roommate have narrowed it down to either bad fuel pressure regulator or bad injectors... but the chances of all six injectors going bad at once is slim. i can't for the life of me find the fuel pressure regulator on this truck. maybe i'm blind or maybe it's just because i'm using a flashlight in the dark or i don't know.
does anyone know where the fuel pressure regulator is?!? it's an 87 f150 4x4 with the 4.9 efi and c6 auto.
The fuel pressure regulator is located under the upper
plenum between intake runners 1 and 2. If the regulator
is causing the loss of fuel pressure pull the vacuum
hose off of it and there should be gas in it.
thanks very much! my roommate was trying to convince me it's at the rear of the intake, but i searched and searched at the rear and never found it haha. if mine's bad, i may as well pull the top intake right off the truck, eh?
