FedEx Shipping Warning

I ordered a RV Towing C6 tranny from TCI. I received it in a timely manner and installed it. I am really satisfied with it. It shifts great and runs cool while towing. (Much better than the old one) The problem was the shipping from FedEx. TCI needed an extra $125.00 to ship to a residence, so I had them ship it to my Nieces business to save the $125.00. I asked that it be sat outside on the front of the building so that I could easily load it onto my truck. When the FedEx delivery guy showed up told the secretary that it was really heavy so he should put it inside. My niece wasn’t there at the time of the delivery so the secretary said ok and he brought it in and sat it next to the front door. He didn’t say anything about an inside delivery charge. A few weeks later I got a bill from FedEx for an additional $94.00. I checked and there is a tariff to bring an item inside of a building. Bear in mind that this facility is located in an industrial park. The front door is six feet from the street on level ground. Basically I got charged $94.00 for the delivery guy to open the door and dolly the tranny an extra 3 feet. Just be warned that if you accept a FedEx delivery ASK QUESTIONS. There might be an additional charge. (I raised cain with FedEx and did get the inside delivery charge dropped)

Any delivery company will attempt to do inside delivery on a heavy, high value item. And they will charge you.

If he left it out there and it disappeared, what would you be saying?

That would have been fine if she had been told there would be an additional charge. Then she would have told him to leave it outside, knowing that I was coming over to pick it up. All I am saying is to be careful with these shippers.
