Has anyone bought the K&N Performance Kit for there Bronco? From the pic on the web it looks good and they say it helps my baby breath better. is it really worth buying for $215?
any help will be appreciated
they won't let my link go through so you have to private msg me to get the link.
Check out my gallery. I have one installed on my rig. I have been happy with it. Although, I maybe converting to mass air flow system at some point. And some of the kits that I've seen do not have the twin tubes on the filter side to compensate for the twin throttle body setup. If that's the case, I might have to change the filter style and end up selling the K&N system that I have installed now.
Hope this helps
As has been mentioned in the past, the biggest drawback to the FIPK's for the Bronco is the fact that the air is drawn in from under the hood. For as convoluted as the stock setup is, it still lets air in form outside the engine compartment. Sending warm air into the intake does more to rob power than add it. Check out "Project MPG" at www.performanceunlimited.com. The numbers don't lie.
I'm pretty happy with mine, but yeah, it's overpriced. I got mine for under $150 or something like that though. On my setup the ducting goes from the front under the hood (like a mini ram air effect), to the airbox, then left to the throttle body. I don't know how much the ducting has changed over the years, I'm pretty sure the 89' F-150 I drive at work is differnent, but on mine the filter replaces the box and still gets the air coming from the duct at the front because the duct comes up under the filter and puts the air right up to it. So it gets a combe of cold and warm air I suppose, but eliminates the restriction. The gain is minimal but existent. I went out with it when I first put it in and noticed a little difference, only when gunning it pretty open though, like getting on the highway as such. From 1\2 to full throttle is helps a little. I have mass air, and I'm sure that makes a difference. I any case, it's not bad, but not worth $150, let alone $200.
Waste of money and makes too much noise. Just ket the replacement filter, seems to make the same improvements i would never have used one if it wasn't given to me as a gift. I still take it off when i make long trips.
