paint schemes

hello guys, i'm new to this blog but have been on the 51 fourm. i just started 0n a 67 and would like to stay as original as possible. it has the 240 with 3on the tree, short w/b, lunar green ext. same on dash and int. except the steering coulum and steering wheel that are a darker green. was this original? also does anyone know the original engine colors? block, valve cover ect. i'm still in the body work stage, engine rebuild ect. look forward to any help i can get.

I dunno exactly what is correct but the darker Ford blue didn't come online until 66 or 67. Below are some pics for inspiration.

A couple of notes:
1. The fan spacer should be cast aluminum
2. The coil should be black with a mustard yellow top
3. The distributor cap should be black.
4. Of course that's not the period correct air cleaner. A period-correct and good looking aftermarket one is a 14-inch open element (ala Mustang "Hi-Po") with a 3-inch tall element. Get one from Mustangs Plus for $22 but it comes with a 2-inch tall element.

Lemme know if you need more pics... I have taken many for reference.

That's an FE.

Does your 240 have a 1 bbl carb or 2 bbl carb? And do you mean a paper element to replace the hay and oil but retain the oil bath housing?

FYI: A 2 bbl carb has a 5.125-inch neck and can use any ol' 4bbl air cleaner housing. Mustangs Plus carries a "Hi-Po" looking air cleaner housing for 1 bbl carbs. Here is the link: Mustang Parts from Mustangs Plus :: Engine :: Air Cleaners :: 1965-73 6-Cyl. Hi-Po Air Cleaner

sorry ; I don't know the difference in engines and I appreciate the link, but I was hoping for a paper element to fit in the old oil bath?

No problem. Now ya know.

I know of no drop-in conversion. Yer gonna have to start cutting and then measure up for a paper element. Here's a thread and a link to illustrate:
