My red steering wheel has cracks where the spokes meet the hub and is well worn. The horn ring is also broken. Other than a new black wheel from the usual catalogs, does anyone have any ideas as far as a replacement? Although I am keeping the interior as stock-appearing as possible, I am open to other Ford car steering wheels if someone has seen something cool. Thanks in advance..
I know por-15 has a kit that fills the cracks and you can color match with paint but there are threads on here that show how to repair it with stuff from the hardware store. Hope this sparks your interest in looking for those threads. Fun reads.
I saw a posting on here (sorry I don't remember from who ) but he used JB weld putty type expoxy and the pictures he posted look really well done. I'm going to try it with one of mine here soon. I read the packaging and I think with a file to rough onto shape and some sanding and shaping it should turn out quite well.
I have one and it still in it's original box. Over the years the box slowly started to disinegrate. I have it in another box. If interested send me a P.M. I got this steering wheel from Numberdummy as stated still in the box N.O.S.
New to forum. Suggestions on where to locate a 4 spoke steering wheel? This wheel appears to have been white.
I have a 64 F250 4x4 that this wheel came with when I bought it in 81. Did this wheel come from a larger truck series? I ask as all reference to an F250 shows a 3 spoke wheel.
I need to replace it and do like the 4 spoke over the 3 spoke. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Thank you very much. It would appear that I will be searching salvage yards. I have yet to find a reproduction in the usual catalogs, all are three spoke.
Reconditioned the wheel on the 65 at least 7-8 years ago from a kit purchased thru Eastwood. Seem to recall they had a 'how to' article on their website. If not, Por's should have one. Now I see where the kit can run up to $100, for that kind of money I would look at reproduction. For a 'do it myselfer' the kit basically consist of a cleaner, prep primer, and A/B epoxy putty found in any hardware store. On the 65 the majority of the cracks were at the spokes so I used a small filed at the cracks to provide additional surface for the putty to adhere to. Only mix small amounts and as long as the material is kept slightly moist it's easier to work with. Don't get carried away, if you fill any of the steering wheel designs/patterns then it's a pain in the backside sanding to regain the design; like any epoxy putty is drys hard as a rock and what you put on eventually has to be sanded down. I then painted the wheel with an aerosol can of Fusion paint to my flavor.

Just a tip keep your eye on ebay under f350 ford truck. Or 61-66 f350. The 4 spoke wheels do show up there from time to time. Price varies. I got a pretty good one for $60. Have seen them all the way to $300. Any I have found in the yards are pretty well worn out and not restorable.Good luck.
New to forum. Suggestions on where to locate a 4 spoke 18" steering wheel? This wheel appears to have been white.
I have a 64 F250 4WD that this wheel came with when I bought it in 81. Did this wheel come from a larger truck series? it's original to your truck, but was used for several other applications as well.
I ask as all reference to an F250 2WDshows a 3 spoke wheel.
I need to replace it and do like the 4 spoke over the 3 spoke.
Welcome to FTE
You need the 4 spoke 18" steering wheel to steer the beast. the 3 spoke steering wheels are 17."
I ran all 6 of these part numbers on two parts locator sites. No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE:F500/750's came with 20" 4 spoke steering wheels / F800/1000's came with 4 spoke 22" steering wheels.
If you install a 3 spoke 17" wheel, you will also have to change the horn button, use the 17's horn brush/insulator and prolly the T/S switch as well.
The 18" wheel & 4WD related parts are not the same.
