Well I have a 92 f-250 and I think the oil cooler o-rings have gone bad. I found a thread explaining how to do the oil cooler fix, however it didn't give an accurate explanation on how to snake the oil cooler out of the engine compartment. Is there some trick that I'm missing or is it just a royal pain and will take some force.
Most will say to loosen the motor mounts and jack toe engine up then wiggle the cooler out. When I did the cooler on my 90, I removed the exhaust manifold and took the cooler out the top. Ive done it both ways, and it is six of one and a half dozen of the other on which was the easiest.
Pull the driver's side front tire, disconnect the steering shaft, and it will come out and down through between the frame and engine on the driver's side.
I have done 2 and 4wd and neither needed the motor mounts or exh moved, Just leave the front header on the engine till the tube is out. THen regasket the front header, install the rear one and tube as 1 piece, various lengths of 2x4 make it real easy to press together.
I was on a hoist for both so YMMV.
I have gasket kits and orings on hand for cheap if interested.
typefour, you have gasket's and orings for the 1991? I realized that mine is a 91 not a 92... and how quickly could you get a set shipped to 49015 and what's the cost on a set? I'm home from college for a week and i'll only be in town till friday
