Resetting computer on 98 Ranger
Hi....I have a 98 Ranger XLT Supercab 4x4 with a 4.0 engine. It has 103k miles on it. I was having a problem with it surging while idling, but the check engine light did not come on. My husband changed the idle control sensor and now the truck doesn't surge. However, when it is cold, the only way to start it is to put the gas pedal to the floor. Once it has warmed up completely it starts and runs great, but if I only drive it for a few minutes and shut it off, it doesn't like to start and will stall out. Also the check engine light is now on. We disconnected the negative battery cable for 15 minutes to reset the computer. Light goes out until next time I start the truck. Any suggestions in solving this problem?? Thanks!
