Air Compressor

Hello
Well my current air compressor is finally wearing out it is just a 60 gal coleman nothing fancy (single stage) but I got about 13 years out of it. I am wanting to replace it with something and was wondering if you had any suggestions for me. I currently use alot of air tools and my Die grinder alot. I do not use any air sanders but have painted the odd vehicle. I would like to get something a little better then my old one it did have trouble keeping up with the die grinder at times excpecially now that its older. I have about 1000 to spend but would consider a little more if it was worth it. I would like one kinda quiet preferably with oil. Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks

See if you can find a Tractor Supply Store near you. They carry Ingersoll-Rand and a nice 5Hp 2 stage should be in your budget. Alway's get the most cfm you can for your money. Northern Tool also carries them, but be carefull comparing them. They have identical looking compressors till you read the specs.

Most definitely go with a 2-stage and more cfm. The two stage pump is much more efficient at pumping air, you could bump up to a larger hp motor but it needs only to be large enough to spin the compressor pump. If you have been able to get by with a single stage then you will love a 2-stage. I would look for a 2-stage 5hp like gfw suggested, then start comparing warranty, service, and the price to get it out the door. Good luck.

Thanks for the help. I appreciate it. I been looking and it appears as if the IR has the most cfm 18.1 my current one is only 11.3 it should be a big difference. My old one is still available at menards on sale now for 399.00 the IR is 850.00 a big price difference but I will go with the IR. I am glad you guys told me to check CFM because some are 599.00 with 10 CFM. Anyway it pays to check thanks again.
