Never had to use an impact on mine. The tranny will take exactly 8 ounces to refill. Make sure you use only Mercon SP or LV fluid.
Maybe mine was never changed then but i was starting to twist the lines it felt like. Mine needed to be "shocked" loose. Once I broke her loose with the impact took her off the rest of the way by hand.

It's kind of hit or miss. I've owned my truck since new. Some have the problem and some don't. Remember the O ring does the sealing. I coat it with vaseline and then just tighten till snug. It won't leak.
