Bully Dog Install on a 2005 Excursion

I just purchased the Bully Dog GT Tuner for my 2005 Excursion. The OBDII connector for the Bully Dog is approximately 2" long and would hang straight down in front of the accerator pedal when hooked up to the vehicle OBDII receptical. Are there any other OBDII recepticals throughout the vehicle and if so, where? Has anyone else modified this connection so it isn't in the way? Also, I noticed that the head unit can get power from 2 sources...OBDII and a seperate power source. Do both of these need to be hooked up for the unit to work?

Thanks in advance! Victor

I flipped mine over so it now points up. Had the same issue with my edge insight gauge. I am still able to access it as needed.
