im thinking of replacing the rusted metal around the wheel wells...but if i cut out the old and weld a new one flush how will i sand the welds that go through and are on teh back side? or should i replace the whole skin on the side and has anyone done that.? the more i can do to keep it cheap the better and any videos or websites on painting and autobody work is awesome thanks!!

I use to work in a body shop. that is the most expensive and most complicated way to do that. can you post some pics to show how bad the rust is? a new side/skin is $1k or more. we use to reside the truck beds of a roofing contractor down in Indianapolis, about once every three months. each time it was both sides and it was about a $10k including parts, paint, and labor(i never did any of it). The cheapest way is probably going to be to grind the rust down and then weld, if you can, a piece of metal to the back side of the skin and then apply bondo to it sand it down and paint it.
