Stripped?

I posted this in the carburation and fuel forum and I thought it might help someone who's in a pinch.

If ever you have a stripped out bolt hole and need to assemble your project and don't have the time or resources to drill and tap the hole or have room to do so, try this.

Try wrapping some fine steel wool around the bolt or screw. If working with a large bolt with bigger and deeper threads, coarser steel wool would work better. It's a judgement call.

Wrap just enough wool to allow the bolt or screw to thread into the hole paying more attention to the tip of the bolt. Be sure to wrap in the same direction as the threads. The wool will bite any threads left in the hole and on the bolt and may allow you to tighten the bolt enough to get you by until you have more time or a more permanate solution can be found.

I have done this trick on stripped out exhaust manifold bolt holes with success.
