Anyone know if and how to adjust the transmission pointer on an auto trans vehicle? The Trans is "drive" when the indicator is in neutral. Although I know this, its really annoying!!! Theres gotta be a way to fix or adjust it.
Also, I need to change out the key lock/ignition lock on my steering column. Has Anyone done this before and do I need a lock plate remover tool?
Remove the black plastic sleeve on the steering column;there's just one screw underneath - you have to get a bit physical opening that sleeve enough to get it off the column, but it won't crack, it's tough.
You will see a white plastic tube wrapped around the column.
Inside this, runs a fine cable that is connected to the indicator needle.
The tube is secured on the LH side of the column & can be adjusted by loosening the small bolt that holds it, & sliding up or down.
I've had no trouble with mine, but some owners have had those outer tubes crack with age.
I think there are two different types of ignition tumblers.
The type I've changed, you turn the ignition to the 'Run' position, then press a release pin through the small hole in the case underneath the tumbler (beside the hazard switch) - the tumbler will then pull out.
