Need some more help fellas. So I have a 96 F350 with 460 and E40OD. Tranny fluid is fine but just last night when I got off the highway from about a 50 mile drive I noticed my transmission was shifting much harder than usual from 1-2. Ive never noticed it shift so hard before and this morning on the way to work its doing it still. It downshifts perfect, no blinking lights on the OD OFF button, shifts into reverse just fine, its just that shift from 1st to 2nd mostly that just seems alot harder than before, it snaps into 2nd gear hard.....WTF could cause that?. No other bad tranny symptoms going on either, no smells, fluid not burnt, fluid level good, no check engine lights. ONLY thing different is the temp outside.....Its ***** cold here in Alaska as we just hit a cold snap and 50-60 MPH winds.
Most people here WORK for a living so they don't sit at the ready to answer questions as soon as they are posted that have been asked several times a week. A search will serve you well...
And like was said in an earlier post check the DTC codes, you have an electronic controlled transmission, let IT tell you what is wrong...

Im at WORK right now and am here 45-50 hrs a week, dont hate on me because I have a computer at work LOL.
Ok, the DTC codes..........so will an OBD II reader pop any codes for me or is there a seperate testing system for tranny stuff?. Sorry, first time messing with an electronic tranny, Im used to C6's and older stuff.
Ford Fuel Injection » How To Run a Self-Test here is a link on how to get trouble codes. I would think your truck is OBD1 so that method would work. You should expect 3 digit codes.
Alternately you could buy a Equus 3145 code reader for under $30.00 to make life easier.

Reason: typo
there is a sensor on top of the rear diff. pull it out and wipe it off and reinstall it. see if your issue goes away.
Did this and no change really. My speedo and ODO are working fine which are some other symptoms of a bad VSS and I dont have those so.........what else.....MLPS, TPS maybe........Im sold on it being an electrical problem of some sort....damn electronics
Also, Before my speedo was just fine, no bouncing at all, THEN I changed my VSS out for a NEW VSS AND THE SPEEDO WOULD BOUNCE ALL OVER THE PLACE AS SOON AS I HIT 45mph.................So I put the old one back in and speedo fine...........WTF?
Still shifting harder than normal.................a buddy said it was because of the cold, its like below zero right now, he said the fluid cant warm up comletely and its just causing higher pressure because the fluid isnt as thin..................sounds possible.
Should I toss in a new TSP?..what are some symptoms of a faulty TPS?

A DTC code would be one!!! Have you pulled the codes yet?
