6.0 issues dont understand.....

i have an 03 powerstroke

did the head gasket arp studs egr cooler delete..

all back together and ended up blowing a rocker arm...fixed that problem.....


now its still in the shop, heres what i am seeing

cold start white/blue smoke smells like diesel fuel bad
has hard time starting oil pressure takes a bit to come up
idles at normal range but acts like someone bumps the accelerator every once in a while
next went to back it out of the shop..pushed the peddle and it would barely
move

anyone know what this might be?

Have you checked FICM yet? Also it's easy to damage injectors if left in heads while they are off.

I don't know much about the 03's

I would suspect a HPO problem.

ICP or IPR. Pull the IPR and check the screen for damage.

Benny might be able to help you out(Blade35)

injectors were pulled from the heads before we even started....new o rings and copper rings

i keep hearing icp valve or ipr....

ones easy to get the other you cant do without pulling the turbo...
sucks....

but i am leaning towards the ficm

reason is.....

vehicle starts idles and revs fine..cept when its in gear......

ficm checks out to be fine....pulled off the ipr and tested it...
nothing...wont click buzz or move just arcs when voltage is supplied

found we had broken wires that had been touching going to replace the ipr today and see what happens

also

oil psi reading at wot is only around 1500 psi still could be from the ipr god i hope its not the hpop

i did a few searches on here and cant find any of my symptoms...if anyone else knows can they post the link to that thread?

changed the ipr today....no change at all.......

still doggy at first when you rev it but then after that all the power in the world....cept when you let off put it in drive or reverse....it wont go.....rpms wont even come up

someone has to know what this is

Try searching the forum for "dead pedal" and "surging" symptoms. Don't know about the smoking at start up, but it sounds like you may have more issues with wiring. My 04 exhibited similar symptoms as yours, but also would die occasionally. It turned out to be a wire connection. For more info on mine, click on my name and read some of my posts about it.

wow this fricken blows..........

i'ma take a hammer to this complete and total piece of ****

i love fords....i own 12 vehicles...all fords.......this thing......is fricken junk.....bought to wrap it around a pole!!!!!!!

So for what it's worth, I'll buy it off of you, after it's been wrapped around a pole cost, $500.00

I know it can be frustrating as Hell sometimes Iv been there But Hang in there you will get it

Its not the HPOP when the pump goes on an 03 it blows the BB out and it wont start ever till you throw a HPOP at it it could have bad endplay in the pump but since it ran fine B4 the work we will say its ok

Surge to me usually means ICP sensor or Turbo VGT relaited

Is the turbo VGT wire harness fulley plugged in

What are you using to read ICP with?


Do any codes come up???

$500 huh? damn seems its worth more in scrap...my buddy just totaled his and he got a nice hfty check for 19,500 seems that the truck is worth more totaled that it is in working condition

btw his had around 260k on it

but any who..... using a verus scanner $10,000 machine maybe it was in psi i cant be sure....

the garage is saying a ground issue...pfffffffffftttttttttt

See if that scanner will get you ICP and IPR%

since the exhaust smells like Diesel sounds like an overfuel condition

See if the scanner can get VGT% the values call for 73% AT IDEL mine does it at 60% just checked today

ANY CODES?????

you never know todays vehicles are so computer controlled a ground issue can raise hell

start checking wire harness for bent pins especialy the VGT harness at turbo

i checked the 6.0 bible page and its showing about the fuel inlet and outlet.....

umm.....

when mine are hooked up the way they are now it runs but you know now it wont move.....


when they are the way this "bible" says...it hardly runs.....
