Also check to see if having your tires extend out past your fenders is illegal - it is in some areas... Personally, I would avoid spacers like a plague - not only for the issues already listed by others, but also because I've heard of them breaking and causing the wheel to fall off...
But back spaced rims can still cause that problem, And around were i live theres tons off ppl that have back spaced rims with no problem. And yeah it is legal in CA to have you tires stick out its just youll need bigger mud flaps to cover them. i had a dam CHM pull me over for no mud flaps ans wrote me up so iv had to look into the hole stupid legal deal.
I'm with you dutter. But the whole stupid legal deal is not only there for your safety, it is there for the other drivers on the road as well. Why does your truck need a wider stance? I'm sure you are not out racing the truck and need it for the handling purposes. From what I've read of your post you are using it for puddle jumping and light offroad usage. The wear and tear of your vehicle even if you do the labor yourself gets expensive. Bolting a piece of 2 inch T6 aluminum to your hub is gonna get something hurt, maybe even you.
Well more then that, Its mainly when im on the rocks i feel to tipy, or in the snow theres be tricky spots were u have to turn around and i need the truck to be alittle wider. Or even around town itd be nice, oh and no more wheel rub when i turn. But has anyone do this first hand and they way i see it just keep an eye on your joints and bearings and you should be nice. Cus if something dos start to go out you can fix it right away
That's usually not what people have in mind. Constantly checking the suspension parts to make sure they won't break every time you drive it
I understand the need for wider stance, but in perspective 4 inches isn't a huge help. Once you lifted the truck, the center of gravity is higher, the wheel spacers won't offset the imbalance.
The tippy feeling you get is just something you have to deal with.
Yeah there fine, lots of people are running spacers or back spaced rim. Yeah itll cause alittle more wear. But if you keeep your ***** in check like you should. youll be fine. Have you actually researched spacing wheels befor you bad mouth my spacers
You might want to buy a couple extra sets of "set 37" bearings and keep them on the shelf. I had 3.75 back spacing on 10 wides on my 92 and chewed bearing up once a month it seemed like.
