I was just wondering what the difference was between the 95 f250 ld and the 95 f250 hd. I'm just kinda lost here and the only thing I can find is the hd came with a diesel. But obviously there is something else.
Ok now with the axle define semi and full float cause I though mine was a full floater cause there is 8 bolts I take out and the whole axle comes out the side without even taking the wheel off and what r the diff between the frames just a little more boxed or something cause if so I could just have it fully boxed or so
The light duty frame is the same dimensions as the 250hd frame but is made with lighter gauge metal. The full float axle will have a large hub stiching out from the center of the rear wheel while the semi float is flat with where the rim bolts. Light duty trucks also used lighter rear leafs with overload springs.
I'm not sure what the internal differences are on the semi-float vs the full-float axles, but the full-float is going to have the large hub that stick out past the rear rims.
The frame is thicker steel on the F250HD/F350 platforms. None of the 90s Fords have boxed frames.
Ok so my ld has an hd front and rear axle that's odd cause my rear has the hubs that stick out which like I said have the bolts on them to take the axles straight out
if you see those, then your f250 is rated for over 8600 lbs,and is the f250HD/f350 platform.it's the f350 truck basically with larger brakes as well as what the others have mentioned than the ld f250's have.
if you see this rear axle, why are you calling your f250 a LD with the full floating axle? because you have a GVWR under 8500 lbs on the door jam sticker?
could be someone swapped one in before you bought her i guess.don't get too carried away with the weight in the bed if this is the case.the rest of the truck doesn't meet this axles capacity.go easy on 'er.

Reason: 8500 my bad
My thing is I have a d50 up front and the sterling 10.25 in the rear which is full floating which would make my a hd but when I scan my vin in through work it says I have the ld so this is where I'm confused. I have hd front and rear axles on a ld....... Could someone maybe have ordered it like this from the factory or is there another way to tell
Sounds like an HD to me. You've got the axles and the door sticker for it. Why did you originally think you have an LD? Only in 97 did they actually label the truck as "Heavy Duty" on the badge in order to differentiate it from the light duty 97 F250 which shared the body style with the new F150s of the time.
It's right on the bottom of the axle that has the imprint designed into it that says d50 also the only reason I believe it's a ld is because when I scan it at work it comes up 95 ford f250 ld and we have the hd options in the computer but the vin reads and tells the cOmputers that it's a light duty
