speedo quit working

shes a 01, 7.3, 4x4, crew. long. speedo quit and nothing else seems to be wrong, put in new vss and found 2 dead fuses. there is nothing visually wrong that i can find. i searched and everybody has other things wrong, not me. we did just have our first light rain and windshield does leak a bit (saw this in an other thread) so whats my next step???? thank you for you time.

I would start by checking to see if the PCM is putting out a MPH signal with a diagnostic tool, if it was, it could be the speedo motor or the cluster.

If your pcm is putting out a signal to the cluster and the cluster is not working, its a good bet that some moisture got to it if you have a windshield leak like you have said..
You could buy a used cluster at a junk yard if it turns out to be bad or have it fixed..

Here is a site that fix's clusters.. Ford / Lincoln / Mercury

take it out and clean all the pins on the plug and clean the connection side of the cluster. Maybe it got damp and has built up calcium between the connections ??

Usually when your VSS goes out your cruse controll stops working also. So if you changed it out, I guess your CC still works. Got to then be electrical I would think.
