Emergency!!!!!!!

Hi, I have a 1990 Ford Bronco. It has the 8.8 rear end. I began to change the Gear oil in my rear Diff. today. The problem I have is I completely strippen the fill plug. I can't put the fluid back in. Is there some other way to fill the diff back up?? This is my only TRUCK!!!!

Emergency!!!!!!!

You'd have to unbolt the rear end and turn it down, and pour the oil in with the cover off.

Emergency!!!!!!!

Man, that sucks.

I would take the pan off and add a drain / fill plug. I don't know how thick the pan is. It probably needs a bung welded to it.

Emergency!!!!!!!

I'm glad you got it fixed, but I have to ask, how did you strip the fill plug?

Emergency!!!!!!!

bronco351, they make an EZ-out just for the square 3/8" fill plugs. I worked at a lube shop years ago and saw many, many of these plugs stripped. I think I only ran across one severely rounded plug we couldn't get out for the customer. The tool works well.
A good tool store should have one.

Emergency!!!!!!!

My fill plug stripped out a few years ago. Got it out after applying heat to the casting around it, and replaced it with a brass hex head plug with teflon tape on it. No leaks, and no seizing after that.
