Suddenly started running bad, then no start.
A friend of mine has a 2001 F150 5.4, it has around 350,000 miles. His GF was driving the other day and it started having a no power problem. She stopped and let it Idle a few minutes and all was fine for a few minutes, then it had no power again. She shut it off at her work place and it has not restarted. No Engine light. Engine light is working
Friend replaced all filters thinking it might be that but no luck. I told him it’s most likely the PCM but that he should get a code reader of rent one from the Auto Box Stores and check the PCM.
I have no Idea when the Spark plug wires, Plugs or anything else was changed on this thing, it’s not mine.
Question, are there any notorious things that fail on these trucks that cause things like this? I’ve been running Diesels for the last 15 years.

this can literally be several things...from a simple relay to the oil pump or timing chain giving up.
getting the codes scanned is the 1st step....otherwise shooting in the dark
