[QUOTE=flixden;11073532]I guess they did not go with 6 lugs because of the increased GVWR. Not sure why they didn't use 8 lugs.
It would be interesting to see the price difference for rotors.
Update: since I have a F150 with the HD payload package on order, I was kindC of interested in this. Partsguyed sells the cOEM 6 lug rotors for $70, the 7 clug are $90. OEM MSRP is c$100 vs. $130. Aftermarket cthey are offered as well, at the csame price as the 6 lugs at thec couple places I checked c(around $50 for both 6 or 7 clugs). So really, since I'd go
aftermarket anyway, there is nodifference.[/QUOT
Congrats on your new order! I'm back and forth on the HD Package, concerned about mpg but when "built" at dealer, example of window sticker still indicated 16/22 for 4x2! Also discovered spray in bedliner option (late availability), would be nice to know which job #! Do you anticipate delivery before end of the year?
Canoe Hauler,
I expect delivery sometime in January. Hopefully.
In my opinion, almost everybody towing a travel trailer with a 4x4 will need the HD package to stay within the limits. A 1,200 - 1,400 lbs payload just does not do it in most cases when you have a 800 lbs tongue weight, a family and gear.
I would not expect the mileage to suffer much because of the HD payload package. All it is is a few extra pounds (200 lbs or so more in curb weight?), but that won't do much for the mileage I'm sure. Half a mile per gallon maybe, if even that.
LOVE LOVE LOVE my truck. Finally getting the new muffler system on tomorrow... finally. I put after market tires soon after I bought it. I STILL get compliments on it nearly every single day. It just looks so incredibly sharp, although I think the chrome starburst toolbox really gives it a little something extra.
The ONLY thing that bothers me is the bass... you cannot have any song with too much bass b/c it quickly sounds distorted!
The guy I'm seeing just bought a Z-71 4dr 4x4 two days ago - I believe it was an '11 but it is brand new and I took it for a spin... sorry to say, my '10 F-150 is way better. Takes off better, stops better... the Chevy seemed sludgey... is that a word?

THEY DON'T!! We have big New Year's plans and I already told him that he was going to have to ride in my truck or we'd arrive separately. Ha! Couldn't believe how horrible it felt to drive... less than 100 miles on the odometer and felt like the brakes were already shot. Love that about the Ford... can stop on a dime.
Wished I could have gotten a 3.73LS instead of a 3.55LS. The 3.55's do just fine, I just hate the fact that it is not quite enough on some of those little interstate hills. 3.73's would let me just chug on. Other than that one thing, I am happy as a clam.
What makes me upset is that when trying to build a truck I can order the max trailer and the HD payload...but when doing thatbitnremoves the chrome package!!!! WTF??? Why would that matter???? With out the max trailer package you cannot get to the 11,200 towing and the HD payload would help with pin weight of a 5er. Also the remote start is not available with certain packages as well...why can't Ford just let you build them the way YOU want them instead of limiting you????

there are only two wheels available for the HD package. 7 lug 17" steelies, and 7 lug 17" aluminum. hence the HD excludes the chrome package on wheel selection alone.
more annoying than the chrome package, it also removes the 4x4 off road package with skid plates ... that bit makes far less sense than the chrome package.
For the price of the chrome package, about $1500.00, you're getting a chrome exhaust tip and four 18" chrome clad wheels and a billet grill.
The 18's do make the truck look nice as hell but they will eat your wallet dry when it comes time for new tires. No thanks, I can and will mount a larger 17" on mine and get it for less money and have a larger variety of tires to choose from.

Your right on those 18" tires. That's the mistake I made with my '05' 350, when it's time for tires I wish I had kept the 17" instead.
