new seat install
so i have got myself a set of 99 seats for one of my trucks and think i found the leather seats ive been looking for for the other. So my question is, does anyone have a write up on how to wire seats that require power having an xl...from what i understand its a simple 3 wire deal, but i would appreciate any input on how to go about wiring these seats in, both my truck are 97 one seat set is from a 99 and the one i'm most interested in is for my crew cab, it is an 05 lariat set.. thanks in advance!

My advice would be to see if you can find a diagram of the '99 truck's wiring. That way you can see where the other end of the plug runs, so you can tell what your requirements are. I would imagine all you would need is a ground and power wire, but there's really no tellin with these newer electric ridden trucks! But if you could see what is done with the stock '99's at least you'd have a better understanding of how it works in theory. Once you know that, the rest should fall into place... just my .02...

While the seats are in the shop just take a battery and some jumper wires and connect gnd to one and power to the other and see which one makes the seat move forwards and backwards etc... then label the wires and start running power to the switch that runs those wires

If your trucks have power seats or even the power lumbar, you could just go to a wrecking yard and get the wiring plugs out of a super duty.
That's what I did when I installed 05 SD seats (since removed) in my truck. Worked fine & very easy to do...
