Power bucket seats

I found a deal on some seats to good to pass up. Size wise they will be good in my 53. When I built the truck I used a real nice 94 C---y pu seat, which my wife finds very uncomfortable. These seats are Lincoln Towncar, each electric. Unfortunatly only the wiring for the seats is there, nothing from the car harness. Also they have airbags on the side. Anyone have any knowledge about such seats, wiring diagram, and will the airbags be ok as long as no power to them?

Usually the airbag harness is a separate connector.

Then the seat wiring is 6 wire connections. 3pair. Like door window motors, they move one direction with power & ground, and the other way with ground & power.

Front /back, front up/down, rear up/down

Sam,

Do you know anything about 95 cadillac CTS seats?? full power and heated? They are not pulled yet but I told them I want every nut and bolt, every wire relay and switch and anything else they see.

Also getting the 3 point seat belts.

With my limited knowledge of seats working in a salvage yard part time I am going to say as long as the yellow wire isnt energized you should be good Okie dokie. I know most of your domestic have a yellow wire running to the seat for for airbagged equipped seats. About what year are the seats?

Last night when I read this I was going to send a note saying that I would not be comfortable sitting on a bomb that could go off at any time. Then realized that I was just tired and overreacting and anyway it’s not my ***! This morning I couldn’t care less but as the day grates on that subconscious little bugger will not shut up, just disconnecting the wire might be adequate for mortals but not for **** Virgo’s, I would take it out / off.

If anyone cares, my 3 motor (non-airbag) Cordoba power seats has a three wire terminal block per seat?

Thanks guys, Donald I don't know the year. If I can make these work, then eventually I will have them recovered and eliminate the air bags.

I would say 99 and up. I don't think any earlier than that had airbags.

Nothing specific. I would expect 3 connectors tho. Heat takes some power.

Just understand that electric seat motors and heaters draw a lot of juice, so make sure your electrical system is up to the task. Both from a wiring and an alternator standpoint. You don't want to fry anything or find yourself stranded with a low battery on some cold and dark night.

Since i am wiring them in myself any advice as to wire size????

The battery is new and the alt is a brand new reman of 65 amps. The only other thing that draws any power is the electric fan for the radiator.

my 'guess' is its a 12 or 10 gauge wire.. once you have the seat you can measure it. I think you would want to relay power this, with a momentary control switch, so if you forget to turn it off manually, it will be off when the truck is turned off.

Absoutely I agree with the relay deal. I am not to concerned about the pwr side of the seat as the switches are built in but I am concerned about how much the seat heaters pull. I have heard 30 to 50 amps.

Also my system is setup that when I turn off the ign it isolates the battery from the system.

a look at the manual (online) for the car, and see what the fuse is for the heated seats. (not so easy!).. I looked at my 08 Suburban and it says 'circuit breaker'.. (no size!).. my 08 F350 says 20 amps for the power draw.
