Hey Doc, I found a 8'x12' Ford script bed frame on cincinnati craigs list that doesn't look too bad, no wood, steel cross beams and steel rails with Ford, standard pockets, 300.00, Sardinia, Ohio. I lost your number when my phone died so pm me or call me if you can't find the listing, Garry
BINGO!! You da man Garry!! I just called the guy. The inside bracket to bracket measurement is 37 5/8". I'm at work so I obviously can't measure my F5. To you big truck guys, does that sound like it will match up? This bed is off a 1935 Ford.
Garry, I'm sending you my number by PM. Reply with yours. I had to switch phones and lost yours too.

Doc, is that measurement supposed to be for the frame rails?
I just looked at that ad, there is no way that is a 35 bed frame. The ad says it is 9' (108") wide which they didn't have back then. The 48-50 bed is 82" and I am sure that the '35 was even narrower. I took the 8' (96") wide bed off mine cause it looks like a cartoon truck.

Yeah that's what he said. He said that was the measurement for the inside to inside dimension of the wood that would lay on the frame rails itself. I honestly have no clue just yet if that's even close until I get home and measure this one. Let me guess, it's way different than yours?

Your frame rail measurement will be the same as mine, 29" inside, 34" outside.

So, if I understand you right, the fact that this one is 9' wide would be an advantage for me based on your experience?

Ford never made a 9' bed, if it is a '35 it should be 7' like mine. They didn't make an 8' wide bed till '53. The '35 frame may have been wider. If the brackets are riveted or screwed to the cross beams, you can move them to the correct position.
8' would really be too wide, 9' would really suck. I suggest you call the guy and ask him to measure the actual width, if it's more than 82", it is not a '35. If it's 96", it would be a later model and explain the wider frame rails. Either way, ask him if the brackets are riveted/screwed or welded.
I called him back. He's actually got 2 beds, and that's where the confusion is. Both are 7 feet wide. One is the full 12 feet long. The other was cut down to 9 feet. He said each side actually has 2 pieces of wood bolted together with an inside width of 32 5/8". In other words, I'm sure that I could make it work.
You guys see where I'm going with this dang truck don't you?........... $$$$$ BUT, I can still stop with the bed and keep my promise of "yard art" only.
Once you get the bed and install it, then you'll need to find yourself a derelict JD tractor to put on top of the flatbed inorder to completely finish the masterpiece.

Oh, how I envy you.
The best part is that the sign touts JD implements, so instead of a tractor ($$$$) and old broken implement would serve the purpose.
I realize I am late to the party but since there is interest in the Ford script bed and survivors are fairly rare I would throw the dimensions of my Ford script bed out here FWIW. I have a '56 F350 with a 9' script stake bed. It is proportioned right for this truck. The bed measures:
Length over all 109 1/2" end of steel to end of steel.
Width is 87" width outside steel.
Width at the bed frame is 34" outside.

Oh how the snowball could start rolling. Something along the caliber of this or maybe a tad worse. About the right time period and "patina".
