Oil Change HELP!!!!

I have a '04 f250 6.0L, with 63K miles and I am doing my first oil change here soon (this week) and I am going to use Rotella T 15-40 oil, but want to know if any one has used Rotella T 5-40 Full Synthetic. I understand what Full SYN is and how it works, but can you run your truck 7500 miles with just regular Rotella T 15-40 or only do that kind of mileage with Full SYN. I am also going to use a Fram oil filter CH9549, and I have a K+N Air filter which I will use the cleaning kit/ spray on that. I am sure this is a dead horse I am going to beat but any answers or help would be great guys? Thanks.

Prob all responses will start with "not to use fram only motorcraft" I think there is one more acceptable one but not sure

Well I have been reading alot of posts that people use fram filters, and I have used them for years, I have always thought that they were quality and never have had problems before. Anyone with info on the Rotella T and Rotella T Full SYN?

Motorcraft filters are recommended for fuel and oil filters. The 5w-40 rotella syn is good oil for these trucks especially in the winter for cold starts. With regular 15w-40 rotella it is recommended to only go 5000 betwenn oil changes. With the syn it is usely good until 7500 miles. It has been discussed multible times over the years. I use syn.

Whoa! first off ditch the Fram filter ASAP!

Motorcraft/Racor are the only filter that will actually work the others are dimensionally different and will destroy components of your engine.

I only run 5w-40.

Yes go with the Rotella T-6 syn 5W-40 lots better for cold weather starts Its not to bad at walley world 21.00 a gal

theres also a copper washer on the oil pan drain plug they seam to last for a few oil changes but tend to leak after awhile and need changed

And Fram Filters are acceptable I beleive that they are the same size anyway not shure about the flow I use only Motocraft filters all the way around and dont worrey about it

If you havent bought it yet the Fram anyway just go with the Motocraft there just about the same price at walley world

The Fram filter is a repackaged Racor filter so it's acceptable to use. You can always look for the patent # on the filter to be sure it's a Racor.

The last time I priced filters at Wal Mart the Fram was $1 cheaper than a Motorcraft filter which is a repackaged Racor filter as well.

On the Rotella 15W40 I could run it to about 6k miles before my injectors started to get noisy, but it's an easy 5k miles OCI oil with no problems.

Good luck with your oil change

Wether you use the 15W40 or the 5W40 you should change the oil every 5,000 miles. The 6.0 shears oil due to the hi oil pressures in the injection system. The oil is cheap and easy to change compared to an injector. You have a $15,000 dollar motor. Don't scrimp to save a couple of bucks.

I've had no problems with the CH-9549. Just check for the patent #'s and felt seal.

Guess no one else saw that you were using a NON-FORD air filter system..... I'd be putting the stock air filter system back on and getting rid of the K&N.

I saw it you just beat me to responding.

Also we need to tell him not to be fooled by anything other than using Motorcraft air filters as the others are junk compared to the filtering qualities of the Motorcraft Blue (Donaldson) filter.
