I have a few lighting projects coming up for my truck. The first of which is some auxiliary backup lights. Its too dark out the back to get any use from my backup camera at night most of the time so I added a couple small driving lights back there.
I also bought a few waterproof LED clusters that I plan to install under my mirrors as "puddle lights". Basically they'll just come on with the interior lights. They'll light up around the truck when I click the unlock button for instance.
And, I bought a few small amber marker lights that I plan to put on the pinch weld at some point. Three on each side.
Not sure how many of these I'll get finished before winter hits, but here's a few pics of the backup lights....
Looks good. Was that back up camera a stand alone unit or was it something that you have hooked up in a in dash Nav unit. Im looking to add one to my DNX5150 but wasnt sure that I wanted to have the one that bolted on my licnese plate or go with a 2011 tailgate with the camera in the handle.
Here's another option for the reverse light and camera.
Currently the camera and lights are triggered by reverse only, a switch
will be also installed later. Thanks to Jason for giving me inspiration for
this a while back.
Looks good! can you post a picture of how you mounted the backup lights? i kind of want to get rid of mine that hang off the bumper and want something cleaner

Looks good! Having the camera lower like that will help with trailer hookups. I had to tilt mine downward quite a bit in order to see the hitch ball.

I measured over about 4" from the edge of my hitch and drilled & tapped two holes in it.
Ok, so today was a beautiful day and I got a chance to work on the puddle lights and they turned out great. They light up the area beside the truck just like I'd hoped. Its mission impossible to get a picture of that so you'll have to take my word for it
Anyway, I haven't done a write up on it yet, but here's a few teaser pics....
I love the additional lighting, I know when I backup at night I sure could use more light. I was thinking of LED's long the running boards to light up the truck, but I almost like the puddle lights off the mirrors better. I'll have to think on that one, great work
