Lost ground for horn button

73 - F250
The horns quit working, I have determined that the steering shaft on the firewall side is not grounded anymore.
I read on here about a rubbing block inside the column but it sounded like that thread was for a newer truck.
Another "fix" was a jumper at the rag joint.
I vaguely remember a copper piece in the rag joint when I rebuilt the steering box years ago but can't swear to it.
Anyone able to help with this
Thanks

I am going to post this in the 73 ford section also.

Sounds like you have done your research. A jumper wire at the rag joint will probably fix it.

That's the solution I got in the electrical section.

What I would really like to know is what broke or what was working that isn't now.

The rag joint is an insulator. There has to be a jumper wire from one side to the other to reach ground.
