help

Hay guys, I removed the 302 from my 1990 F250 and installed a 1970 351C. All fit nice but can not get it ti fire. I am using the existing wires and am wondering if that is ok or am I going to have to do some rewiring. I do get some firing but I think it is missing something. Anyone have any ideals???

The Cleveland was designed for a very different firing system. It will have to be converted to 90 electronic specks to run.

It wont just bolt up and run.

You will probably get better help in the correct area for the year of your truck. I am thinking perhaps someone there has done it before and would be of help. Most of us down here are doing the exact opposite. Late model into an early truck.

There is a forum in FTE for your year truck, you can search for it and post there. I believe there is also a forum for your 351, you might want to check there also.

Near the top, in the left side of this page you will find Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums. Click on it. You will find a list of other areas.

extra, I bought a 92 a few years ago and we had to rebuild the engine. There are sensors & relays that must be in order and working for it to start. Finding someone local that is handy would probably be the better way to go.

Is there any state inspection that your truck must go through and pass? New requirements have put a damper on engine swapping in many states.

Very good point. Different states would have different requirements depending on the age of the truck. Usually there is a point that is exempt. It is also usually what was on the truck at time of original sale. So if it came with catalytic converters guess what? Shoulder belts, guess what? I think you get the idea.
