tune up info...

i guess my uncle bought a 1970 f-what ever... and hes needing some help getting it running right... and hes thinking the fireing order might be wrong.. so he asked me to help him out... so i am looking for the fireing order, plug gaps, and point gap... and valve gaps to hopefully get his truck running right...

he thinks it has a 302... but unless some one swapped motors, its probablly a 360 right? but info on both would be help full along with how to figure out what motor it does have in it...

anyways, thanks in advance!!!

We need more info than what your giving us. Model and what engine are pretty important, mainly engine. The firing order is stamped on the intake if it's the stock boat achor cast iron piece.

its either a 302, or a 360/390... im not totally sure... so first thing i need is how to identify which one it is...

and the fireing order between a f-100 and a f-250 isnt going to be different is it???

The engine depends on what the firing order is. The 302 is pretty easy to identify. Six bolt trapizodial vavle cover. The 360/390 has rectangle vavle covers, and they bolt to part of the intake.

A 302 looks like this 289.

A 360 or 390 looks like this 390.

FE engines have 5 valve cover bolts per side, but 1958/64 passenger car FE engines have rounded valve covers without any holes in them for oil caps or smog valves.

These early engines have an oil fill tube mounted on the passenger side of the intake manifold.

The firing order is the same for all 1970 Ford V-8s.
