I actually had some time yesterday to work on what has become a front-end rebuild on my truck. I've decided to replace the u-joints on the axle shafts just for good measure. I spent about an hour trying to get one of the c-clips out. I gave up and went to the one on the opposite side and that one popped out on the first few tries. Went back to the stubborn side and still couldn't get the thing out even after destroying two screwdrivers and soaking it multiple times with PB Blaster. I even tapped on the bearing caps one way and then the other to relieve tension on the clip. Still nothing. Anyone have any tricks for stubborn u-joint c-clips?
You know the air in a can spray used for electronics and such? If you turn the can upside down and spray it liquid comes out and will freeze what you spray it on. I have had luck a few times spraying stuck bolts and nuts with the liquid and freezing them kind of like heating them the contraction and expansion sometimes cracks them loose.

That sounds like a good idea. I was going to put heat on it, but when I went to light my torch the cylinder was empty. Afterward I got to thinking about stories I had heard about guys launching bearing caps into orbit by getting the grease inside them too hot. Don't know if there is any truth to it, but it kind of made me nervous to try it.
