I have found an oil leak. Is there an o ring under this plug?
The plug is located right under the HPOP on the drivers side. Almost directly under the bottom HPOP plug.
Use 3/8 drive to remove.
Mine starts to seep oil almost immediatly after starting.
I have cleaned well and then watch as the slot around the plug fills with oil.
Can it be removed without pulling the fuel bowl and/or HPOP?
I took a picture and posted to photo Bucket, but I can't seem to get it over to FTE. Maybe this will work.
Thanks Payson: It doesn't appear to be there. It appears to be coming from around a plug, just below the do not remove plug. Maybe the intake manifold. Or maybe the lpop. I am just not sure of what the plug is in. Thanks for the reply. Jim
If you are talkng about the plug in the block it almost never leaks, it's in the low pressure oil system. But oil from an HPOP leak will accumulate there making it appear as though it is leaking. That plug holds a spring and check ball in place.
Payson; Thanks again, that is what I am trying to figure out. I cleaned the groove around the plug really well. I started the engine and I could watch the groove fill back up with oil. It does not appear to be coming from the bottom plug on the HPOP.
I'll need to get in there and double check. It just might be the rear gasket and dripping down on the plug. I'll get back in there when the rain stops. Thanks so much for the oil schematic, and especially for replying. Jim

When it stops raining stick a clean rag up under the HPOP (easier said then done) to keep any potential leak from reaching that plug in the block and then see if there is any oil at the plug or oil on the rag. Will help narrow it down.
Well: I got enough time this morning to stuff some rags under the HPOP bottom plug. No leak there. Odd thing was that the oil building in the groove around the previously mentioned plug, was not leaking there either.
Cleaned the valley with soap and mopped it out. Ran the truck a while and no apparent leaks. Got called away, so had to quit for now. I am going to try and get something under the IPR and see if it is leaking. However, I have the seals, so I might just pull it anyway.
Thanks Payson for all your help. Jim
Well we had some great weather today, and back to the oil leak. Finally got some rags completely under the HPOP. Ran engine for an hour. The only leak I can find is around that plug which has reappeared. I can watch it over flow the groove in the plug seat and drain down to the low spot in the front of the intake manifold. My rag was oil dampened in the same area. Now this is not a big leak, it is real slow. I only loose/use a Qt in 5000 miles.
I just don't like leaks. I am going to get the front one stopped and the look harder back toward the turbo.
PaysonsPSD's diagram list the seal for this plug as part of the oil pump reservoir, but the plug appears to be in the intake. But the arrow points to the approximate location.
Just to let you know, I am still digging. Thanks Jim
That plug is actually labled "anti-drain back check ball cap". You can try tightening it a bit or remove it and replace the o-ring. It is in the block and not the intake. I have never removed it but if you can ge to it, it should come out with HPOP in place. I believe a 3/8" extension should fit or if the angle is bad a 3/8" wobble extension.
