1956 Renault Dauphine - The 50 Worst Cars of All Time - TIME
1956 Renault Dauphine - The 50 Worst Cars of All Time - TIME
Some of these piles are listed because sales were slim and none, the Chrysler/DeSoto Airflows and the Dead-Sell for examples.
There's a few piles missing from this list...
IMO: The absolute worst terd of the 20th century exported to the west (before the wall) was the East German Wartburg. The Moretti (rebadged FIAT: Fix It Again Tony!) was not too far behind. The Yugo was a rebadged FIAT 124.
As awful as some German and Italian imported cars were, the frogs have never understood the US market. Every French car imported to the US was a terd. Plus, the frogs refused to listen to the dealers and/or customers.
My dad was the west coast distributor of Citroen Cars Inc. In the 1980's, when Peugeot (P-u-k-e-d) bought out Citroen, my dad said as bad as Citroen was to deal with, Puked was worse.
Motoring along, the gasser Puked 505's electrical system would short out. Peeps pulled over to the side of the road, got out...then watched the terds burn to the ground.
What did the frogs do about it? Nothing...they soon pulled out of the US market.
