I'm removing it now. When I replaced my oil cooler and screen there was part of the screen missing so I'm guessing replacing it may have caused some gunk to plug it up. Ill have an update in about an hour

ok great look for torn IPR screen, clogged screen, if the screen is pushed up inside IPR are all signs of a bad IPR
I know they have been getting the ICP out without removal of the turbo but I dont think you can get the IPR out cuz of the back cross peice of the Intake manafold
I figure when its my turn I will just pull the turbo too
It might just be easier to remove the turbo, benny is on the right track, after doing all that work, if any dirt/contaminates go in the oil from removing the oil cooler it very well could kill the IPR
Ok I found the coolest tool to take that part off Ill post a picture of it. Couldent believe how easy it was to get out without removing the turbo. Anyway the screen was perfectly intact until I tried to remove it and broke it. I already have a new one on order I wasent going to put the old one back no matter what. What im wondering is if I put 12 vdc to the terminals on the regulator should it open? I am just assuming it runs off 12vdc but that might not be the case. It did have some what looked like some bearing material caught in the screen but it wasent that much. I am going to look up how to test this thing but if you guys know speak up and ill give it a shot. Thanks again.
It doesnt run off 12 volts but guys do test them with it the IPR valve should close when 12 volt is applied
But keep the 12 volt application short no more than 30 seconds you will burn it up
Veery little junk on the screen will cAUSE a problem and if any junk worked its way thru could have ruined the valve leaving it open alittle so it cant build pressure
I am currios to the cool tool you found to get it out cant wait for the pic
I also think some guys run a newer style IPR in the 03 I beleive that the threads were the same and the newer screen is not as Fine so doesnt clogg as easy
this is the tool that I got to get the IPR off it worked wonders no turbo removal took seconds to remove after I bought this. It is a hydraulic tool. This is a tool you can buy from a local tool store you will not find this at a home depot or local hardware store. I paid $43 for it. made in the USA
The harness looks good but ill test it.
I am worried there might still be some of that material in the system how do I tackle that? from all the cranking should it be caught up somewhere by now? I am also worried about the material I found it looks like bearing material.
