The last two times I have had Ford replace my fuel filter on my 01 PSD. First time at 15,000 miles second at 30,000, at a cost of $75 each time. This time I replaced it myself and purchased a Purolator filter at Pepboys for about $26 including CA tax. Where is everyone else buying them? What brand and at what cost? Thanks!
I replaced my fuel filter yesterday for the first time, I too have 15000 miles. Purchased filter at local Napa store for 31.00. I'm no expert but the Napa filter looks better than the stock filter, this one had what looks like a pre-filter around it.I was surprised how clean my old filter looked.
Quadzilla, thanks for that link. I didn't know about that one. I now have it in the favorite list. They have fairly good prices on most of the items listed. I'll have to visit that site a little more often.
Diesel Injection Service is a great source for a bunch of stuff. I buy Stanadyne, coolant test strips, coolant additive, and fuel filters from them. I also just got a set of guages and a pod from them. Very good prices and excellent customer service.
Has a great price on filters and all that stuff, buy the racor filter it is the same O.E.M. filter that ford sells you for all that money just with out the fancy motorcraft box.
I guess the Motorcraft lettering has an additional cost involved, maybe like the ink or the shape of the letters??? Just another way to seperate you from you money. Go figure??
Also just remember Racor is a division of Parker filtration, the same stuff that the offshore fishermen put there lifes in trust to to keep there boats running no matter what. IMHO the best filter you can buy for your truck boat or logsplitter.
I havent used the Fram, but i know that the WIX filters made by dana/spicer had a gasket with the wrong bevel to them and they did not seal to the housing right. Just my 2 cents but how much do you really save using an aftermarket filter???
