yesterday my new switch & relay arrived for my '72, quick question, what does the twisting action do?? pull out once is side & tail lights, pull again is main beam, but until I get my Chilton manual I need your expertise to explain for me, thanks in Advance.

I had bought a switch and it was from Napa and it was the wrong size it really didn't make any sense at all it was like almost missing parts or something. So I just ended up cleaning the corrosion and still a year later it works just fine
Aw yes the metal piece on the front tack welded acts as a spacer. I got it separated then JB welded it on the new switch and good to go..my 2cents.

Eventually the little rheastat in the switch will crater and you will lose the dimming function. To remove the switch, you push in on the tab/button on the body of the switch (behind dash) and pull the handle and shaft straight out. Then you can remove the dash bezel and replace the switch. Then depress the tab/button again and put the shaft/**** in the new switch...Bob's yer uncle.
